[...] Well, the folks over at Urbanite asked me to post up about their foray into the relief effort and here it is. It follows the usual criteria, all proceeds go towards the Haiti relief effort, the part that caught me and one of the main reasons I’m posting it, is that it’s not just “Haiti” slapped across a shirt with some colours. It actually attempts to get the contributor to reach a little deeper and discover something about the people they’re helping. Toussaint Louverture is the main feature of the shirt, the man who really brought about Haiti’s freedom and independence from it’s former masters. But I won’t spoil all the fun, read more about him here and if you want to support an educated Haiti relief effort the shirts drop tomorrow here. [...]

[...] Urbanite presents their Toussaint Louverture Haiti Relief tee in an attempt to raise even more money for the victims of the earthquake that hit Haiti. The shirt features Toussaint Louverture, one of the mot important characters in the Haitian revolution. He led enslaved Africans and Afro-Haitians to victory to establish independence over French colonizers. In addition, Toussaint abolished slavery and secured native control of the colony of Haiti. Not only is the shirt intended to raise money for Haiti, but also inform people of the history of the Louverture. Release is scheduled for Wednesday, February 24th at their webstore at 6:30 PM EST. All proceeds will be donated to the Haiti relief fund. [...]

He didn't get enough credit for it, but he was the greatest song writer of his time. He was a creative vocalist, and he is still a fly dresser. Blowing in the wind is my favorite song by him.
